A few of us at TK spent a good number of years working for eBay. We were there when eBay originally purchased Skype. Even then (2005),  internally, we scratched our head. Not because eBay was getting into the VOIP world, but because of the huge price tag eBay bought it for. Wallstreet seemed to agree with our internal assesment and eBay took a hit for a while.

Well, it looks like eBay is admitting that it was a mistake by selling 65% of the company. John Donahoe (whom I have great respect for) explains:

This is a good move for eBay, as they try and focus on what they do best…help people sell and make payments online.
